The Stroud Valleys

Historically Stroud and its five valleys played an important role in the wool industry and was an important centre in the industrial revolution.
Today the five valleys are still at the heart of the working Cotswolds with a thriving creative scene supported by a host of well respected artists, designers and musicians.

The cottage is located in the picturesque village of Amberley, just ten minutes drive from Stroud and is well placed for exploring the surrounding towns. We particluarly love taking a drive to Tetbury for Antique shops, Nailsworth for boutique shopping and of course Stroud town for a more eccentric look at the Cotswolds.

Stroud’s award winning Farmers Market, miles of country walks  from the doorstep, stunning valleys, boutique shopping, famous restaurants, countless pubs, live music and more, all reasons why this is our favourite corner of the UK are endless.

About us…

Carol and Simon moved to Nailsworth, a charming town in the South Cotswolds in 1987 and created their home in the Five Valleys with their two daughters Katie and Natasha.

Renovating The Cottage in Amberley has been a family labour of love. From the pipes to the paintings, every detail has been thoughtfully considered.

The end result is a collaboration between the four of us and, yes, we are still on speaking terms.

Walk the valleys.

“Bees blew like cake-crumbs through the golden air, white butterflies like sugared wafers, and when it wasn't raining a diamond dust took over which veiled and yet magnified all things”
- Laurie Lee, Cider with Rosie.
