A new show of paintings from David Phillips.
Over the past years the simple act of ‘going somewhere else’ has been a catalyst for Davids work. From residencies in Michigan, Itoshima (Japan) and of course at This House in Stroud we are excited to present this collection of curious, beautiful postcard sized paintings.
Exploring the importance of connecting with other places that exist in parallel with the world we see, David’s practice weaves memories, dreams and history with a characteristic sense of myth. Characters move as translucent phantoms across landscapes which are simultaneously bucolic and ancient, but somehow feel like visions from a future we might live in years to come.
