Jean-Philippe Lenclos says that ‘colour is a specialism, a particular visual language with precise rules and laws. Since its birth in the 1960s, colour design has become a professional discipline’. Lenclos built a career in colour design and has practiced in this profession for over fifty years. His contribution to the vast subject of colour extends from creation, design and planning through to management and communication. Alongside his colour design work he has always painted. He has worked on his painting practice daily, either in watercolour or oils, since his retirement over 25 years ago. This is the first time he accepts that one of his paintings is exhibited and for sale, ever. Now in his 88th year, it’s hopefully a new beginning!
