Marie Lenclos is a French artist living and working in London since 1995. She is mostly known for her strong figurative urban landscapes which are in private collections around the world. Another strand of her work is an ongoing series of observational paintings of a group of trees she paints from the window of her father’s studio in Brittany. To date, she has painted over 60 paintings of the same group of trees, in different seasons and weathers, always from the same view point. She loves how their majestic lines loom over the village’s houses. Their shapes detach themselves from a sky of many lights. The colours in their impressive mass change all the time, capturing the time of day, the tone of the unsettled weather, the sunlight and shade.
Lenclos has painted this same landscape for the past ten years. Each time is a challenge: they are hard to draw, their powerfulness escapes her. She returns to them with trepidation each time she visits her family home in Brittany. -
All of our artworks are fragile, so we take great care when packaging them. Every piece is securely wrapped and sent using a signed delivery service.
